Apparently the official name of these cookies is "Peanut Butter Blossoms". For years I have only known them as "the peanut butter cookies with a Hershey's Kiss in the middle". I learned something today.
Peanut Butter Blossoms
What you need
48 Hershey's Kisses
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup shortening
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 Tbs. milk
1 1/2 cups flower
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup granualted sugar (to roll cookies in)
What you do
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Unwrap all of your Hershey's Kisses
Beat shortening and peanut butter until well combined. Add granulated and brown sugars and beat until fluffy. Add the rest of the wet ingredients (milk, egg, and vanilla) and beat well.
Add fry ingredients until combined.
Shape dough into one inch balls (I use a small ice cream scoop) and roll in granulated sugar.
Bake 8-10 minute until light brown (but really they are already light brown before you bake them). Remove from the oven and immediately press a kiss into the center of each cookie. The cookie with crack around the edges.
