Friday afternoon we loaded up in my dad's car and headed to Pittsburgh for the Cardinals/Pirates game. It was a quick 3 hour drive (just like going to Cleveland) to the city that is home to the Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers (yuck). By the way, have you noticed all of Pittsburgh's professional teams all share the same colors? Now that was thinking.
We arrived to storms which were much welcomed due to the sweltering heat. We picked up our free shirts before heading in to check out the Pirates' swanky digs. Kudos #1 to the Pirates: way to have XL and S shirts. Emily and I appreciated it. The stadium was absolutely beautiful (top 5 for me) and the food was dirt cheap to boot.
Our seats were in the Infield Grandstand right above home plate. I'm pretty sure there is not a bad seat in that park.
We also had a pretty good view of the skyline.
And I had a pretty good view of Drew's facial hair.
We sat through the rain and awesome lightning show to see the Cardinals pull out a win (which I was very grateful for - didn't want C to see them lose twice one week, in two different states). I also want to add that the Pirates' bottom of the ninth intro was completely awesome and made me want them to rally and win (if I didn't already want the Cardinals to win).
After the game we loaded back into the car and headed home. We arrived back home by 2:00 a.m. Not too shabby for a trip to a great ballpark. C and I have decided to make trips to Pittsburgh for Cardinals games instead of Cincinnati (he's joined by side and now detests the city as well!).
We slept in Saturday morning and then did our (now) usual breakfast at Waffle House (another thing C has joined my side on), went to Bob Boyd to buy some stuff for the Jeep (more on that tomorrow, I promise), and grabbed some sweet corn before...
heading to the pool. Duh.
That evening we finally went to Red Lobster to use a gift card from Christmas. We also stopped by my parents' house to watch some of the Cardinals game (because they don't have a land lord who won't let them get Direct TV) and went to a late showing of Friends with Benefits (funny flick).
After church on Sunday afternoon we again went to the pool and spent the rest of the day lounging around the house. I actually made dinner (go me!) and a cake (double go me!) and we ended our weekend watching the season premier of Entourage (I love that show!).
Make sure to come back tomorrow to see why my finger was cut and why I had to buy some accessories for the Jeep. And you won't want to miss the recipe I'm sharing on Wednesday.
