It's Monday so that means it must be time for another weekend rewind. I've never been good at coming up with a thesis or topic sentence so let's just jump into the "juicy" details (thanks for that, FCA). C's parents were visiting this week so we were able to spend the entire weekend with them.
Friday evening we "dined" on spoon roast from the crock pot, cooked carrots, mashed potatoes, and Birthday Cake Oreo Brownies. If you haven't tried the new Oreos yet, please do. they are a nice change from the regular cream filled ones and aren't quite as sweet. Plus, these come with sprinkles! After dinner, and a long discussion on what movie to watch, C went out to pick up Crazy, Stupid, Love (a great movie) and a slushy for yours truly.
We slept in Saturday, it has been quite the hectic past few weeks for us, and headed to lunch at Scrambler Maries. C then had to set up for an event Big Brothers had that evening while his parents went to an old watch shop in Canal Winchester and I took a nap. I love naps. We met back up at Starbucks (an Elsea tradition) before heading home to unwind a bit.
That evening we went to my parents for a delicious dinner of bacon wrapped chicken, rice (the recipe from Jessica's baby shower), broccoli, salad and rolls. Then we rounded off the evening with red pop cake, brownies and extra strong coffee (made by yours truly at the instruction of C - so the strongness was really his fault!).
And that's when the excitement really started. My parents live on the outskirts of town (technically) and it's not common to have firetrucks and ambulances in the area. While everyone was talking and sipping strong coffee (some had to dilute it) we started to hear sirens getting closer and closer until we realized they were in the neighborhood just behind the house. Mark and I piled into his car (for some reason, no one else wanted to join us) and took off to see what the fuss was. The incident was at the end of a cul-de-sac so we weren't able to get too close (but did take some alternate routes to see if any smoke could be seen) but ultimately came home without any news other than the number of fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, and fire chief vehicles on the scene (3, 2, 1, and 1 in case you're wondering).
After church and lunch on Sunday we drove around town to check out a few recently foreclosed homes before sending the Elseas on their way and watching the Buckeyes lose (it isn't our year) and taking quick naps). I was able to pull off a semi-real meal (beef and noodles, left over mashed potatoes, and green beans) that we ate while watching some DVR'd programming before watching the Oscars (way to go Billy Crystal!).
And that about sums it up. After the last few whirlwind weeks we're planning on having weeknight staycations this week. It's supposed to be pretty warm out so if you see two people taking nightly walks around town, it's probably us.
