Fashion Friday: July Birchbox

Last fall (I think) my sister started subscribing to Birchbox.  She even reviewed her October box for all of you!

Birchbox is a subscription service that sends you a box of cosmetic goodies (mostly samples, sometimes a full sized product) for just $10 a month.  The boxes are (semi) personalized to each recipient (Emily gets different things - and usually better - than I do) and if what you are getting isn't really your style, you can change your survey answers at any point for your next box.

When my unemployment card finally came in the mail (after I started my new job), I decided to use the money wisely and subscribe.

I'm three or four months into my year long subscription and loving it. While I haven't gone out to buy a full sized product of a sample I have received I am loving trying many different things I normally wouldn't buy.  I'm hoping to start reviewing my monthly boxes (my subscription should go through next February) so if you don't see one one month, just remind me.

A few weeks ago while C and Monkey were in Charlotte I had a night of pampering. My Birchbox came and I shut down Irelands with a gel polish manicure and highlights and cut. BTW, after you have a gel polish manicure you will never go back. Never.

Here's what I got...

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Meal.  I haven't tried this yet but am looking forward to it as I typically don't shower on days I am working from home (who am I kidding, somedays I don't shower on days I work in the office - sorry co-workers). Emily received a different brand of dry shampoo and wasn't a fan. Maybe it's because her instructions weren't in french.

DDF Acne Control Treatment.  Haven't tried this yet either, but am sure I will need to soon. It looks pretty clinical, so it's gotta work, right?

Atelier Cologne Mistral Patchouli.  (a what?) At first I was not a fan as this is a bit manly.  But I've warmed up to it and while I probably won't buy a big 'ole  bottle of it I will definitely use the sample when I want to smell like pepper.  Also, it's unisex, so C can use it too!

theBalm. Long Weaing Staining Powder Blush.  Not sure I will use this frequently, but it may come in handy for weddings or dress up things (ha! like I have many of those).

Birchbox Bobby Pins. These. I. Love. I'm trying to be more stylish with my bobby pin uses and am hoping Emily will give me a few ideas. These definitely have me on the right track.

The other nice perk about Birchbox? The boxes fit perfectly in my bathrom drawers helping to keep my make (a little) organized!

So there you have it.  If I'm smelling or looking a little bit better you know it's because someone else is helping me.

P.S. This is my own review. This blog isn't a big enough deal for people to want to pay me to review their products.

I'm not sure you are aware of this, but if you review your monthly products within 30 days, you get points for your reviews. And by review I mean you just have to check boxes, you don't actually have to write anything. Those points can then be saved up to get free items. I can't tell you how many free things I've gotten. Good stuff too that I would never buy with my own money! I have had my subscription for a year and I think so far that's been my favorite part. And that dry shampoo isn't that great, I feel like it makes my hair look clean for about 10 min.- Beth
