Other things have been happening at the Elsea house.
For starters we have a new (to us, but really sorta new anyway) car. We smelled gas around the curb Saturday and Sunday and on Monday I noticed C's car was leaking something (at least it wasn't the Volvo). So he took it in and the accord was diagnosed with a gas tank leak. We've been patching parts in the car for the last 3 or 4 years but this wasn't patchable.
Side note #1: Anyone interested in purchasing a 2002 Honda Accord Coupe that needs a new gas tank?
We were very fortanute to find the exact car we wanted and had to move fast as everyone else wants it as well. So after work Monday night, I applied extra deodarant and we set out to see if we could come home with a new car.
Side note #2: C really wants a truck. It did not help that one was sitting right next to us at the dealer. What did help is that he does not want a white truck. Something about looking like a government vehicle. Now that I think about it, who decided that white should be the color of government vehicles?
Side note #3: I sat in all the cars while we waited and could not figure out how to get out of the truck. I may have even yelled "I can't get out! I'm stuck!"
Monkey took a page out of Gale Stephenson's book and upon seeing it Tuesday morning said "Did you try the horn? How does it sound?" I'm not sure if Grandpa actually ever said that, but it sounds just like him.
While we were gone Monkey came down with a temperature and has been on her sick bed ever since. She has moments of greatness (when medicated) and does seem to finally be on the mend.
You know what's not a great mix? Trying to get any sleep with a sick kiddo, another kid who seems to be having the nightmare of the century, and coming down from the "high" (or fear?) of purchasing a new car. There wasn't much sleep Monday night. It really would've been nice to be closer to the 24/7 starbucks.
Last night was better as Monkey was the only one up. At 1:00 I woke up to "Mommy!!! I'm thirsty!!" and then "Mommy!!! I need a cold wash clothe!!" Such the drama queen. She gets it from her daddy. (Seriously.)
And now we're just waiting for everything outside to dry out so we can be outside. Come on sunshine!
That's it for news from our house.
